The colonists' farm
What awaits you:
Welcome to Holzbunge, a place with a fascinating history and a strong connection to nature. Here, in the middle of the Schleswigsche Geest, there is much to discover and explore.
The history of Holzbunge dates back to 1765, when the entire Geest was resettled. On farm no. 8 of the newly founded Neu Duvenstedt colony, the first settlers did not have an easy life. Their struggle to find their way in the new environment and the makeshift accommodation are part of the rich history of this place.
Today you can trace the history of the Kolonistenhof and its first inhabitants in an exhibition on site. The exhibition is run by a workshop for people with special needs and offers not only informative panels and tours on various topics such as beekeeping and landscape, but also a sculpture trail where artists present their works in wood, metal and granite.
Another highlight of Holzbunge is the unique tree church, which was built from 30 oak trees and is a 1:4 scale replica of St. Mary's Church in Rendsburg. On festive days, public services are even held in this special church, which symbolizes a close connection to nature and reflects the beauty of the surroundings.
Discover the history and the closeness to nature of Holzbunge during your stay at the Seehotel Töpferhaus. Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of this unique place and let yourself be enchanted by its beauty and charm.
