FAQ
What is the difference between a civil wedding ceremony and a free wedding ceremony?
In order to be married before the law, you must have a civil wedding. The registry office of the municipality in which the wedding takes place is always responsible for civil weddings - regardless of where the bride and groom live. In our case, this is the registry office in Hüttener Berge, and the ceremony lasts almost exactly 30 minutes.
Where does the civil wedding ceremony take place at Seehotel Töpferhaus?
The wedding ceremony can only take place in rooms approved by the registry office - at the Seehotel Töpferhaus this is the "Seeblick" room. This room offers a spectacular panoramic view of the lake.
How many guests can attend a civil wedding ceremony at the Seehotel Töpferhaus?
There is room for up to 60 guests in the "Seeblick" room. If you are celebrating with more relatives and friends, we can open the double doors: up to 100 guests can then be seated comfortably on chairs.
On which days of the week can civil weddings be held at the Seehotel Töpferhaus?
Civil wedding ceremonies can generally take place from Monday to Saturday (excluding public holidays and bridging days) - depending on the registrar's schedule. We therefore recommend that you contact the registry office in good time to discuss availability. Binding appointments are usually made in October for the coming year.
How individually can we arrange our civil wedding ceremony at the Seehotel Töpferhaus?
Our registrar caters to many individual wishes. In our experience, these include
- "Personal elements" in the wedding speech
- Music of your choice from the band or a singer
- Individual decoration of the wedding room
- Participation of dogs
What is the difference between a free wedding ceremony and a civil ceremony?
Free weddings are "free". Although they are not recognized by law, you can plan such a free wedding ceremony entirely according to your own ideas. You not only determine the times, but also choose the wedding speaker, the music and the decorations.
Where do free wedding ceremonies take place at Seehotel Töpferhaus?
When the sun is shining, most bridal couples are drawn to the Seewiese under the wide blue sky of the north. But of course there is also an alternative for bad weather, be it under an elegant tent roof or in the wedding room.
How long does a free wedding ceremony at the Seehotel Töpferhaus take?
Free wedding ceremonies usually last between half an hour and an hour and are presented by a speaker of your choice. A musical accompaniment is of course always possible, be it in the form of a playlist or live music.
Can we also have a church wedding at the Seehotel Töpferhaus?
If your pastor agrees, nothing stands in the way. Otherwise, there are several churches nearby, both Protestant and Catholic. The Protestant churches in Bünsdorf am Wittensee and in Sehestedt am Nord-Ostsee-Kanal are particularly popular with our bridal couples. Here is a selection of churches:
- Evangelical Lutheran parish of Bünsdorf
- Evangelical Lutheran parish of Sehestedt
- Evangelical Lutheran parish of St. Nicolai Eckernförde
- Catholic Church St. Martin Rendsburg
