Sustainability
The environment is of concern to all of us. That is why we at the Seehotel Töpferhaus pay particular attention to sustainable management. Sustainability is a matter close to the hearts of the entire crew and the owners. We have already implemented many measures and are continuously working on further optimizations. What exactly do we do? We will be happy to show you.
- We are proud of our latest project. It combines energy recovery, kitchen and restaurant.
- We have built two new greenhouses. In one, we grow herbs for our kitchen all year round. In the other, we will grow flowers that will make our restaurant even more beautiful and colorful.
- The greenhouses are powered exclusively by the waste heat from our combined heat and power plant and cooling systems.
- We operate an efficient energy management system with our own combined heat and power plant for self-generation of heat and electricity.
- All radiators are equipped with radio thermostats which in turn are networked with the hotel management software. This means that we only ever heat rooms and public areas to the perfect temperature when they are actually occupied.
- We have a whole fleet of state-of-the-art VanMoof S3 and X3 e-bikes for our employees.
- We have 4 e-charging stations with card charging for all e-vehicles.
- All our lighting is equipped with LED technology.
- We pay attention to A+ energy efficiency for electrical appliances, such as the TVs in our rooms.
- When it comes to purchasing, we rely on products of the highest quality, mainly from the region and some from our second home, Portugal.
- We attach great importance to ensuring that everything in the kitchen is always fresh and prepared by hand to perfection, as we do not use convenience products at all.
- We have our own herb garden from which we grow the herbs for our kitchen.
- We avoid plastic and disposable packaging. A good example is our breakfast buffet. We even make our chocolate and nut cream in the fantastic Supernutural machine made by ourselves. We also only use straws made from 100% renewable and biodegradable sugar cane bagasse.
- We do not provide disposable hygiene products in our rooms. We offer high-quality and sustainable products with minimal packaging to take away and reuse, such as a bamboo toothbrush or natural shaving soap.
- We do not use disposable slippers packaged in plastic, but the super comfortable, sustainable, reusable and recyclable Kaaita slippers made fom plastic bottles. .
- We do not have printed room folders. Instead, you will find tablets in the tablets in the rooms with detailed hotel information. On the tablets you also have the option of ordering your room cleaning, as we only clean after the second night to further save water, energy and cleaning agents.
- We use sustainable Bracenet key fobs instead of plastic door cards. The key rings are made from old nets from the ocean.
- We are no ordinary conference location. We offer superfit conferences for anyone who wants to, where we place particular emphasis on healthy eating and invigorating outdoor activities.
- Always looking at your cell phone? Not with us! Because there's so much to do here that you won't have time for it. We offer a wide variety of free indoor and outdoor games.
- Every year, we honor clubs and NGOs from our region with charity events. The Mayor's Brunch and the Christmas market for volunteers are particularly popular.
